Treacle's story

The mule that we bought down from Casablanca the night before last is a male and we have called him Treacle. The mule that came the day before is called Honey so it should be easy to remember Honey and Treacle!

His rescue was not easy. He had had a metal band attached round his leg from where he has been tethered. As we understand it, the original owner passed him on to somebody else who took the metal band off and could see the cause of his pain and suffering.

A young woman in Casablanca fought very hard to get Treacle released to our care and she managed to do that with the new owner yesterday afternoon. We knew there wasn't a moment to lose the boys went up straight away. Treacle was made comfortable in a hospital stable when he returned and the following morning his care was taken over by the two Abdahnes. You can see his progress in the photographs below. The photo shots are challenging but this what the men do constantly and they do know what they are doing. They are taught well by are amazing vet, He will remain in the hospital stable until he's stronger and the wound has begun to heal. Of course he's having antibiotics and pain killers! If only we could get the drug ‘Bute’ over here! A very well known vet from the UK three years ago and it was absolute magic for these equines.
